General Research - Music Videos

General research – Music videos

A music video is a short piece of footage that represents a song from an artist which is shown visually. Most music videos feature the artist who recorded the song singing or lip-syncing their own song on-screen. Although the artist is not always in the video, dialogue could be included into a music video like a film which entertains audiences. Usually a music video is released after a song is made but it is not always the case.

Music videos use various styles of film making techniques such as live action filming, pre-recorded filming, animation, documentaries, bricolage where references of different things that have been already created for example including clips of other existing films that relate to the song. But it could also be used for entertainment purposes such as showing clips of a very popular film which has gained high publicity which will then attract audiences who were interested in that certain film but is simply not related to the song lyrics/ or artist.
